Grammy-winning singer Tems is once again trending – this time not for a viral outfit, but for a rare deep-dive into her love life and boundaries. In a new interview with Cee Valentina for Complex UK, the Nigerian star reflected on her style, her whirlwind 2025 and the persistent rumours linking her romantically to UK rapper Dave.
Tems, who has largely kept her private life off social media, was asked whether she is currently in her “lover girl era.” Her answer? She said she has always been a lover at heart. “I’m always going to be a lover girl,” she told the interviewer, adding that she still believes in love but is now much more grounded and focused on self-acceptance and self-respect.
She linked that mindset to her latest project, Love Is A Kingdom, saying she wanted fans to see the different shades of love she has experienced – including self-love. Tems also laid out her relationship red flags clearly: anyone who is not genuinely curious about you or trying to be your friend is, in her words, a red flag, period.
On the much-hyped Dave rumours, Tems’ comments indirectly poured cold water on the social-media shipping. Fans have been dissecting lyrics and viral clips since their collaboration “Raindance” and a joint appearance at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, but her emphasis on being happily grounded and focused on herself suggests there is no public relationship to confirm – at least for now. For the moment, the only love story she is prepared to showcase loudly is the one she is having with herself.
