In an update published by Channels TV, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its 8th National Convention in Abuja, with Nentawe Yilwatda and several others emerging as new members of the National Working Committee (NWC). The event saw over 8,453 delegates and 31 state governors converge on the capital to reshape the party’s leadership hierarchy ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
President Bola Tinubu addressed the delegates, emphasizing that the party remains the primary vehicle for Nigeria’s “national renewal.” He praised the transparency of the process and urged the new leaders to prioritize party discipline and the inclusion of diverse voices within the progressive fold.
Premium Times reported on the scale of the gathering, noting “8,453 delegates converge on Abuja for the APC convention,” while The Nation highlighted that “the emergence of the new NWC marks a turning point for party unity.”
Echotitbits take: Conventions are often where political futures are made or broken. By installing fresh faces in the NWC, Tinubu is effectively tightening his grip on the party machinery and preparing for the strategic challenges of the 2027 transition period.
