According to the Daily Post, the Oyo State Government has officially lifted the night-to-dawn curfew previously imposed across ten of its local government areas. The security restriction was originally put in place to help security forces track down and rescue abducted schoolchildren and teachers who were taken from the Oriire Local Government Area.
The decision to lift the curfew was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, who explained that the move followed a thorough review of the security situation by state authorities and security chiefs. The government assured residents that security agencies have established strong control over the affected areas, making the strict movement restrictions no longer necessary.
Confirming the security updates, Vanguard reported that the lifting of the curfew “brings immediate relief to local farmers and cross-border traders who depend heavily on night-time transportation.” Additionally, Tribune Online observed that “while life is returning to normal, security patrols have been significantly increased along vulnerable border towns.”
