A dispatch from Leadership Newspaper explains that the Nigerian Navy has recovered approximately 105,000 litres of stolen crude oil during specialized anti-oil theft operations in Delta State. The operation was spearheaded by tactical units from Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) DELTA in the Oteghele riverine axis.

Naval Spokesman, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, revealed that naval officers uncovered concealed industrial storage reservoirs used by illegal bunkering networks. The seized crude was recovered in two distinct batches of 60,000 litres and 45,000 litres hidden along dense mangrove channels.

The operation forms part of broader maritime security measures designed to neutralize illegal refining sites, protect national critical infrastructure, and safeguard crude oil output. Surveillance operations are being escalated across sub-creeks to deny economic saboteurs operational foothold.

Validating the report, Premium Times quoted Captain Folorunsho stating, “The sustained maritime dominance is aimed at disrupting crude oil theft networks and preventing severe economic losses to the federation.” Similarly, Daily Post covered the security crackdown, citing naval authorities who noted that “dismantling illicit storage infrastructure remains central to restoring full oil production capacity in the Niger Delta region.”

Echotitbits take:

Sustained naval enforcement in the Niger Delta is critical to arresting crude oil losses and boosting national revenue generation. Continuous technological deployment and community intelligence will determine whether oil recovery gains can be permanently secured.
