In an update published by The Punch, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has named former Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen as interim head coach of the Super Falcons. Eguavoen will steer the women’s national team through their upcoming 2028 Olympic Games second-round qualifying series against Comoros scheduled for October. The temporary appointment fills the vacancy created by the restructuring of the senior team’s technical crew.
Eguavoen will be supported by an experienced backroom staff, including Nasarawa Amazons manager Christopher Danjuma, former national team defender Ayisat Yusuf, and goalkeeper trainer Olatunji Baruwa. The NFF noted that the arrangement ensures continuity and technical preparation while the federation conducts a comprehensive search for a substantive head coach.
The Super Falcons are set to host both legs of the Olympic qualifying tie at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State. Victory across the two fixtures would propel the team into the third round of the continental qualification pathway for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
