In an update published by The Punch, the Delta State Police Command has deployed tactical teams to track down two armed assailants who invaded a residential property in the Effurun area of Uvwie Local Government Area. Police operatives recovered a broken, locally fabricated firearm at the scene after the 48-year-old resident confronted the intruders during the early morning break-in.
State police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed that the victim physically engaged one of the armed suspects, causing the weapon to break before the second assailant inflicted an injury on the victim and fled. Police units from the nearby Ekpan Division quickly secured the scene, seized the abandoned weapon, and transported the injured resident to a medical facility for treatment.
State Police Commissioner Samuel Erale commended the victim’s bravery while assuring residents that covert intelligence operations are underway to arrest the fleeing suspects and curb violent crime across the Warri-Effurun metropolis.
