According to Punch, the Federal Government has begun paying ₦18 billion in outstanding severance benefits to 2,700 former employees of the defunct Nigeria Airways.
The settlement addresses claims that have remained unresolved for more than two decades and may provide significant relief to retirees and affected families.
The Sun said the workers waited “more than 20 years,” while Vanguard quoted officials saying the package represents “₦18 billion” for 2,700 former workers.
Echotitbits take: The headline number matters, but implementation, disclosure and measurable outcomes will determine whether the announcement improves household welfare or productive investment.
