According to Punch, Ondo officials said 29 people had died and 60 suspected cases were being tracked after an incident linked provisionally to a herbal substance in Odigbo Local Government Area.
The cause remains under investigation, so the suspected substance should not be treated as conclusively established until toxicology and epidemiological findings are released.
Vanguard also reported “29 deaths, 60 cases,” while Channels Television said police had opened an “investigation” into deaths in the affected communities.
