Lending some advice to the beneficiaries, the Attorney General also enjoined them to be good citizens and stay away from crime.

19-year old singer songwriter Shalom Olaleye has been signed to a record deal by a Manchester based record label.
Shalom who is known by fans as Troy – omo iya ijo was offered what many artists in his position would consider a lifetime opportunity, when his single titled Duro – caught the attention of an executive of the UK based record label on You Tube.

“It wasn’t just the song…there was also something special about Troy, he has what we call in the music business the X factor, and he’s young” says Ms Champagne Jaye – the vice president of Afristar Records (https://afristarrecords.com)
For Shalom though, this whole new development means he would have to make a decision about his education and his music career which appear to have received a boost, but the unassuming and somewhat shy teenager was quick to emphasise that his education was non negotiable and that he is working out an arrangement with Afristar Records that allow him to fulfil his contractual obligations only on weekends and during school breaks.

Shalom is currently studying mass communication at the prestigious Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta, in Ogun State Nigeria.

Pronounced dead 3 times, Obey shares his experience, warns of Covid-19

For about the umpteenth time since he was rumoured to have died on three different occasions in July, juju music maestro, Chief Ebenezer ‘Obey’ Fabiyi has again reacted to his purported death, saying it wasn’t a good experience.

The 78 year old legendary performer, who was a guest on an Ogun State Television (OGTV) programme in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, monitored by Echotitbits on Friday, expressed disappointment about how people would declare a living man dead.

File photo: Professor of Music and Juju maestro, Ebenezer ‘Obey’ Fabiyi, whose style of music, laced with proverbs and deep meanings, is widely accepted to have revolutionised Yoruba language in Nigeria.

In his explanation, Obey said he was taken aback when he heard his son explained to a caller on the phone that “my father is alive, he’s right here”.

“I don’t wish anybody to pass through such an experience. Because my son was with me we were discussing, I just heard my son speaking on the phone saying, there is nothing wrong with my daddy.

“My son, Bishop Folarin ran inside and said daddy they’ve come with fake news again. From that moment all over from Canada, everywhere, it was not a easy thing for a living man to be declared dead when you are alive hale and hearty.”

Still apparently puzzled, Obey wondered what could be a reason for anyone to have declared him dead three times in one month.

“Then within a month, to have carried such a rumour three times. I’m still asking, I don’t know what those people want, and I won’t even know why. It is still a puzzle to me. But I thank God for everything.

“Nothing is wrong with me, I am hale and hearty, and I thank God. I believe that I haven’t finished my assignment yet, I must fulfill my purpose, it is not my time yet, I still have much more to contribute to humanity and to the expansion of the kingdom of God”, he retorted, as if to remind his traducers of his 1973 track- Baba Lo Ran Mi Wa, released when he was under the label Decca records.

The Nigerian Miliki crooner and founder of the old Inter-Reformers Band, who has always been ingenious in music composition using his personal life experiences, disclosed that just as he had done in the past with tracks like Edumare Dariji Won, he would record a song about his experience while people already greeted him ‘rest in peace’.

“…definitely, I’m going to be in the studio, I’m going to release a song”, Obey said emphatically.

Chief Obey, who had recorded two music tracks in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, which has been playing across television and radio stations in Ogun State, urged musicians to use their popularity and platform for the advancement of society.

Commenting further on COVID-19 and government effort to mitigate the spread, the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye music professor stressed that it is the duty of musicians to use their popularity and platform for the advancement of the society.

He further stressed the realness of Coronavirus pandemic and advised Nigerians to adhere to government regulations.

” I knew quite a lot of people that are yet to believe the reality of COVID-19. COVID-19 is real, it’s not only in Nigeria or Africa, it is all over the world. London, Canada, US, Asian countries, Japan, Korea and Italy, everywhere. This COVID-19 has killed numerous thousands of people.

“People please; I want you to take note that COVID-19 is real. Let us do everything that the government has told us to do. Let’s cover our nose, let’s obey social distancing, let’s do what they have told us to do, now that the government is opening the schools gradually, opening houses of worship gradually, let us comply and let us be extra careful, please COVID-19 is real. Don’t take it for granted”, he warned.

Obey, who started professional music since the mid-50s, is widely known for his style of music, which comprises a variety of Yoruba instruments, lyrics dense with proverbs laced with deep meanings, and musical percussions, merged in a style only unique to him. This uniqueness is fueled by his passion and strong sense of responsibility that music should teach morals that will help build the society.

While he lauds younger generations of musicians, he admonished them to further use their music to influence the society in positive ways.

“I think the young generation of young musicians, they are contributing their quota and they are all doing very well. Their own approach is different to what we had. They are definitely reaching their own generation, they understand their language, what they are doing is great.

“One thing that I’ve been saying and will continue to say is that…and I thank God, I can see them, they have been borrowing a leaf from the advice of elders.

“We have different things happening these days, the ‘Yahoo’ and all the negative things that have been happening. They can use their music because they are well accepted; they can use their music to pass a message. And I can see that they have been doing that.

“Our own time, the way we do it, we are still telling them to borrow a leaf from what we have done. If they add what we have done to what they are doing now they can balance it and it will be a good thing.

Obey, the juju music legend, whose style of music is accepted in many quarters to have revolutionised Yoruba language, enthused that younger generations of musicians should not be discouraged.

“So I don’t want us to discourage them because they are easily reaching the youths, and that is good. At the same time, the ‘Yahoo’ and all the ills in the society, they are something that music can correct. So I have advised that they look into that area and they are changing”, he added.

Bayern Humiliate Barca 8-2 as Pique Says Catalan Club Needs Lots of Changes

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique said radical changes were needed from top to bottom after his side were annihilated 8-2 by Bayern Munich on Friday to exit the Champions League in one of the Catalan side’s darkest ever nights, Reuters has reported.

“We feel devastated, although shame is the real word I’m looking for. We cannot afford to compete like this because it’s not the first, the second or the third time that something like this has happened,” a tearful Pique told reporters after the quarter-final drubbing, their worst ever result in Europe.

“This is very painful but I hope it serves some purpose.”

Pique, one of the surviving members of the team who won the Champions League in 2009 under Pep Guardiola to begin a golden era for the Catalans, said he was ready to leave the club in order to ensure they improve.

He also appeared to blame the Barca hierarchy, which includes president Josep Maria Bartomeu, for the team’s predicament as he called for changes at the very top.

“We all need to reflect deeply, the club needs lots of changes, I’m not talking about the coach, players – I don’t want to point the finger at anyone but the club needs changes on a structural level,” he said.

“If new blood needs to come for the club to change course then I’m not untouchable and I’ll be the first to leave if needs be, because it seems as if we’ve hit rock bottom.

“We all have to reflect about what is the best thing for the club and for Barca.”

Barca coach Quique Setien is unlikely to survive overseeing such a debacle, although he did not say whether or not he saw himself continuing in charge of the team.

“I’m not going to go into all that as I’ve only been here for six months but seeing as this is Pique, surely some of what he said is true,” said the coach.

“Right now we feel enormous frustration and all we can do is make conclusions and think about the future. Barca is a club that is so great that this will cause us a lot of damage and obviously some things will have to change.

“The truth is this is a tremendously painful defeat.”

Kanye West eyes White House, announces 2020 presidential run

Kanye West, the entertainment mogul who urges listeners in one song to “reach for the stars, so if you fall, you land on a cloud,” claimed Saturday he is challenging Donald Trump for the US presidency in 2020.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION,” the born-again billionaire rapper tweeted as Americans marked Independence Day.

West offered no further details on his supposed campaign, four months before the November election, and it is unclear if he has officially registered to run for office.

Hundreds of thousands of Twitter users reacted to the star’s announcement and “Kanye” shot to become the top trending term on the platform, although many questioned whether the volatile rapper would go through with his plan and others claimed it was a publicity stunt.

His wife, reality star Kim Kardashian, replied with a US flag emoji, while Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote: “You have my full support!”

The 43-year-old has mentioned running for president several times and he said last year he would run for president in 2024.

West long ago broke ranks with most of the left-leaning entertainment industry to loudly voice his support for Trump.

In 2018, they met in the Oval Office — a surreal tete-a-tete that included a hug from the rapper as well as an on-camera rant featuring an expletive not often repeated for the White House press corps.

That year, West also delivered a lengthy soliloquy to a president who many deem racist, telling him he loved him — to the dismay of many Democrats and fellow artists.

But in 2019, during an interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music’s Beats 1 show, he said his support for Trump had been a way to razz Democrats — and announced his own presidential ambitions.

“There will be a time when I will be the president of the US, and I will remember… any founder that didn’t have the capacity to understand culturally what we were doing.”

It was unclear to whom the artist was referring.

The announcement came days after West, who has taken a very public turn towards Christianity in recent years, released a new song, “Wash Us In the Blood,” along with an accompanying video including imagery from recent anti-racism protests.

West has also opened up about his mental health, particularly his struggle with bipolar disorder, telling talk show host David Letterman he feels like he has “a sprained brain, like having a sprained ankle.”

Since 2018, Kardashian has formed her own contacts with the White House as she champions criminal justice reform: she has successfully lobbied Trump to pardon a sexagenarian woman for a non-violent drug offense.

For weeks now Trump, criticized for his response both to the coronavirus pandemic and to anti-racism protests, has been lagging in the polls behind his Democratic rival, Joe Biden.

There was no immediate response to West’s announcement from either candidate Saturday.

  • Finally, US Charges Hushpuppi to Court, Accuses Him of Frauds, Money Laundering

Finally, US Charges Hushpuppi to Court, Accuses Him of Frauds, Money Laundering

Government of the United States of America (USA) has finally charged Ramon Abbas Olorunwa Igbalode popularly known as Ray Hushpuppi to court in Los Angeles for allegedly committing frauds and laundering ‘millions of dollars from cybercrime schemes.’”

The government, in a comprehensive affidavit on Friday by the US Department of Justice, said Hushpuppi carried out business email compromise frauds that targeted US law firm, a foreign bank and an English Premier League soccer club.

The charges against Hushpuppi compiled by a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Andrew John Innocent, was filed before the US Magistrate Judge, Honourable Rozella Oliver.

Though the affidavit discussed several fraudulent schemes involving Hushpuppi, it failed to disclose the identity of the law firm, foreign bank and the English Premier League club he allegedly defrauded.

If found guilty, Hushpuppi may end up spending many years in prison in the US.

    The affidavit reads in part:

“RAMON OLORUNWA ABBAS is a Nigerian national living in the
United Arab Emirates (the “U.A.E.”), whose social media accounts frequently
show him in designer clothes, wearing expensive watches, and posing in or with
    luxury cars and charter jets.

“The FBI’s investigation has revealed that ABBAS finances this opulent lifestyle through crime, and that he is one of the leaders of a transnational network that facilitates computer intrusions, fraudulent schemes(including BEC schemes),1 and money laundering, targeting victims around the world in schemes designed to steal hundreds of millions of dollars.

“ABBAS participated in these fraudulent schemes and money laundering in coordination with multiple coconspirators, including the persons referred to herein as Coconspirator 1 and Coconspirator 2.

“This affidavit discusses several fraudulent schemes involving
ABBAS. First, messages found on the iPhone of Coconspirator 1 (reviewed
pursuant to a federal search warrant issued in this District) reflect that ABBAS, Coconspirator 1, and Coconspirator 2, with others, committed a BEC scheme that defrauded a victim in the United States of approximately $922,857.76, including 1 BEC fraud schemes often involve a computer hacker gaining unauthorized access to a business-email account, blocking or redirecting communications to and/or from that email account, and then using the compromised email account or a separate fraudulent email account (sometimes called a “spoofed” email account) to communicate with personnel from a victim company and to attempt to trick them into making an unauthorized wire transfer. The fraudster will direct the unsuspecting personnel of the victim company to wire funds to the bank account of a third party (sometimes referred to as a “money mule”), which is often a bank account owned, controlled, and/or used by individuals involved in the scheme based in the United States. The money may then be laundered by wiring or transferring it through numerous bank accounts to launder the money, or by quickly withdrawing it as cash, by check, or by cashier’s check, approximately $396,050 that ABBAS, Coconspirator 1, and Coconspirator 2 laundered while Coconspirator 2 was in Los Angeles, California.

“Second, ABBAS and Coconspirator 1 conspired to launder funds intended to be stolen through fraudulent wire transfers from a foreign financial
institution (the “Foreign Financial Institution”), in which fraudulent wire transfers, totaling approximately €13 million (approximately USD $14.7 million), were sent to bank accounts around the world in February 2019. Coconspirator 1 conspired with the persons who initiated the fraudulent wire transfers, and also conspired with a number of others, including ABBAS, to launder the funds that were intended to be stolen. ABBAS, specifically, provided Coconspirator 1 with two bank accounts in Europe that ABBAS anticipated would each receive €5 million of the fraudulently obtained funds.

“Other communications between ABBAS and Coconspirator 1 indicate
that, in addition to these schemes, ABBAS and Coconspirator 1 conspired to launder tens, and at times hundreds, of millions of dollars that were proceeds of other fraudulent schemes and computer intrusions, including a fraudulent scheme to steal from an English Premier League football club.
    III. STATEMENT OF PROBABLE CAUSE
    A. Identification of ABBAS.

“Analysis of Coconspirator 1’s iPhone and other online accounts showed that Coconspirator 1 operated and tasked money mule crews for a number of fraudulent schemes, including BEC schemes and cyber-heists. Analysis also
showed that Coconspirator 1 communicated with the U.A.E. phone number +971543777711 (“Phone Number 1”) about multiple fraudulent schemes and money laundering. As described below, Phone Number 1 was one of the phone numbers ABBAS used during 2019 and 2020.

“Based on my review (pursuant to federal search warrants obtained in
this District) of data from Coconspirator 1’s iPhone and from an online account connected to that phone (the “Online Account”), other law enforcement personnel’s review of that digital data, and from discussions with United States Secret Service (“USSS”) and FBI personnel, I know the following:

“Coconspirator 1’s iPhone listed Phone Number 1 (+971543777711) with the contact name “Hush.” The phone also contained a contact for Snapchat username “hushpuppi5,” which listed the Snapchat contact name “The Billionaire Gucci Master!!!”

“Searches of Phone Number 1 and the contact name “Hush” in Coconspirator 1’s iPhone revealed messaging conversations between “Hush,”
using Phone Number 1, and Coconspirator 1. (For ease of reference, communications with this moniker and Phone Number 1 are referred to as communications with ABBAS in the remainder of this affidavit.)

“In or around December 2019, April 2020, and June 2020, I reviewed the publicly viewable Instagram account of “hushpuppi” at www.instagram.com/hushpuppi. Based on information available on the profile page, the user of that account made more than 500 posts and had 2.3 million followers as of June 2020.

“This Instagram account included numerous publicly viewable images
of a man who appeared to be ABBAS, based on comparisons to photographs of ABBAS in passports and other identification documents referenced below inparagraphs 16.c to 16.c.iv. Hundreds of these images on the Instagram account showed ABBAS in designer clothing and shoes, posing on or in luxury vehicles, wearing high-end watches, or possessing other luxury items, indicating substantial wealth.

“For example, on June 6, 2020, ABBAS posted a photograph of
a white Rolls Royce Cullinan that included the hashtag “#AllMine.” On February 27, 2019, ABBAS posted a photograph of himself in front of two vehicles, one of which he described as his new Rolls Royce Wraith. Based on review of publicly available pricing information, the starting price for each of these vehicles is approximately $330,000.

“More than two dozen images showed ABBAS in front of, on top of, or inside other luxury vehicles, including multiple models of Bentley, Ferrari, Mercedes, and Rolls Royce.

“On numerous occasions, ABBAS posted photos of himself wearing items and/or holding shopping bags from luxury stores such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Channel, Versace, Fendi, and more.

“On multiple dates, including April 17, 2020, June 19, 2019, and July 1, 2019, ABBAS posted images of himself inside or in front of private jets.

“Multiple photographs also appeared to show ABBAS posing in locations around the world (such as Dubai and Paris).” and attached.
