Local sources and farmers in the region have reported a surge in insurgent activity, noting the presence of roughly 200 motorcycles used by the terrorists for rapid movement. These groups are reportedly targeting transit routes such as the Maiduguri-Monguno and Mafa roads, which are critical for the movement of goods and people in the North-East. The emergence of these new fortresses suggests a tactical shift as insurgents seek to disrupt economic activities and government projects.
In response to these developments, civil rights groups have issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government.
