According to ShockNG, Nollywood royalty Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde is officially stepping behind the camera for her first directorial feature, “Mother’s Love,” which is currently trending ahead of its cinema release.
The film explores the complex relationship between a protective mother and her daughter during her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year. Omotola, who also stars in the project, is being praised for transitioning into a filmmaker role while maintaining her status as one of Africa’s most bankable leading ladies.
Verification:
* What Kept Me Up (Entertainment Site): “Directed by Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde in her directorial debut… Mother’s Love will be released in Nigerian cinemas.”
* YNaija (Verified Blog): “The veteran actress showcases her storytelling prowess in this emotional drama featuring Nosa Rex and Lilian Afegbai.”
Echotitbits take: “Omosexy” entering the director’s chair is a significant power move for female representation in Nollywood. Given her perfectionist reputation, this film is expected to be a technical and emotional heavyweight at the box office this month.
