An update published by The Guardian reveals that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has urged its members to disregard a “fake” executive committee list currently circulating on social media. The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, clarified that the official congress results are still undergoing final ratification.

The party maintained that the consensus arrangement used during the ward and local government congresses held in February was successful and remains the only valid process. The leadership cautioned that the fake list is a calculated attempt by “disgruntled elements” to create division within the ranks.

A State Congress is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan, where the final state executive members will be inaugurated under the supervision of the national headquarters.

The internal friction was also reported by Tribune, which noted that “security has been beefed up at the party secretariat,” and Leadership, which cited a party source saying, “the consensus was not as unanimous as the leadership claims.”

Echotitbits take: Intra-party disputes in the APC are common ahead of major election cycles. This “fake list” controversy suggests that despite the “consensus” rhetoric, there are still deep-seated rivalries in the Oyo chapter that could affect the party’s 2027 prospects.
