According to TheCable, a major protest broke out along the Lagos-Ibadan and Ondo-Ore axes as residents used the body of a kidnap victim to block vehicular movement. The protest followed the abduction of a local council secretary and two others, highlighting the persistent insecurity in the South-West region.
The demonstrators expressed frustration over the perceived inability of security agencies to curb “hit-and-run” kidnappings. The gridlock lasted for several hours, leaving thousands of travelers stranded and prompting a heavy deployment of police and Amotekun corps members to the scene.
Premium Times validated the unrest, quoting a protester who said, “We are tired of burying our neighbors while the kidnappers walk free.” Daily Post further confirmed that “security chiefs in Ondo have been summoned for an emergency meeting following the incident.”
