Reporting by Vanguard indicates that Nigerian film producer and actress Etta JoMaria has emerged as one of seven finalists selected for the British Council Film Lab Africa 2 Producers Lab. JoMaria was chosen from a competitive applicant pool of over 1,000 filmmakers across the African continent.
Delivered in partnership with EbonyLife Creative Academy and Iconic Steps, the acceleration initiative equips emerging producers with strategic development training, creative mentorship, and international co-production skills. The initiative aims to elevate African storytelling by guiding projects from early narrative concepts to international distribution.
Speaking on her selection, JoMaria noted that the experience has reshaped her approach to creative producing, allowing her to balance storytelling vision with production strategy. She intends to use the platform to develop projects that reflect contemporary African stories for global streaming and theatrical audiences.
