Figures cited by Punch show that publication of INEC’s final candidate list has formally set the field for contests across Nigeria’s 109 Senate seats in the 2027 election.
The list places incumbent senators, outgoing governors, former lawmakers and political newcomers into clearer head-to-head races ahead of the February polls.
Political parties are now moving from nomination disputes toward campaign mobilisation, with voters able to assess the final choices in each senatorial district.
Leadership provided independent corroboration, reporting that “4,408 candidates cleared”. A second sufficiently independent credible report was not located during this review, so further confirmation remains limited.
