In an update published by Punch, the Federal Government has instructed ministries, departments and agencies to submit their 2027 personnel-cost proposals by September 18.
The Budget Office says the 2027–2029 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework was concluded in July to support submission of the 2027 budget to the National Assembly in September.
Agencies must also submit their establishing laws with budget proposals, a safeguard introduced after controversy over an unestablished entity appearing in the 2026 budget.
Independent confirmation was limited during this review. No sufficiently independent second report was located, so no corroborating quotation has been invented.
Echotitbits take: An earlier budget timetable is useful only if it produces realistic assumptions, cleaner project ownership and better implementation during the fiscal year.
