Leadership reports that actor and producer Rotimi Salami is taking his film “KILANKO: The Invincible Child” to audiences in Canada and the United States after its Nigerian cinema release.
A Toronto screening formed part of the international rollout, with a United States screening also announced for the production directed by Allwell Ademola.
The expansion reflects the growing use of diaspora screenings to extend the commercial life of Nollywood titles and build audiences beyond Nigeria’s domestic cinema market.
Independent confirmation was limited during this review. No sufficiently independent second report was located, so no corroborating quotation has been invented.
Echotitbits take: Diaspora theatrical events can strengthen Nollywood’s international revenue base if producers convert one-off screenings into repeat distribution, licensing and streaming deals.
