A report by Nigerian Entertainment Today reveals that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has officially set September 29, 2026, as the judgment date for a lawsuit seeking to force law enforcement to reopen investigations into the tragic passing of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, famously known as Mohbad.
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/363/2026, was instituted by a non-governmental organization called the Break the Silence Foundation. It requests an order of mandamus to compel the Inspector-General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force to initiate a fresh probe into the controversial circumstances surrounding the young artist’s death.
Presiding Judge Justice James Omotosho locked in the date after hearing final arguments from the foundation’s legal team. Interestingly, no legal representatives appeared in court on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force or the Lagos State Police Command during the hearing.
Expanding on the legal update, local platform Lawyard confirmed that the presiding judge also threw out an application by a private individual, Samson Obaboye, who sought to join the suit. Legal representative Tunde Falola stated to reporters, “The circumstances surrounding his death remain mysterious and deserve public attention.”
