According to Nigerian Tribune, APM Terminals Apapa plans to increase rail evacuation and introduce 24-hour barge operations in the fourth quarter of 2026 as part of efforts to reduce export-logistics bottlenecks.
The initiative was announced at the terminal’s exporters forum, where exporters, shipping lines, logistics firms, regulators and other stakeholders discussed delays and supply-chain constraints. The terminal says the approach will focus on practical coordination across the export chain.
Punch separately reported the same plan, including the target for stronger rail use and around-the-clock barging. The Nigerian Ports Authority is the relevant public-sector institution for port operations and logistics coordination, although the operational plan is being driven by the terminal and its partners.
The two reports corroborate the planned measures. The key uncertainty is implementation: the fourth-quarter target will depend on infrastructure availability, regulatory coordination and the ability to sustain traffic flows beyond normal working hours.
