Leadership reports that 12 people were killed after suspected Boko Haram fighters attacked Dzangola village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Local authorities said two additional victims were receiving hospital treatment following the assault.
A church and several commercial premises were also reportedly attacked or looted, while soldiers, police personnel and forest guards were deployed following the violence.
Local government chairman Mark Ishaya confirmed that “12 people were killed,” while Adamawa legislative leaders described the assault as “one too many,” reflecting growing concern about continuing insurgent activity affecting vulnerable communities.
Echotitbits take: The attack is another reminder that military pressure on insurgent groups has not removed their ability to strike softer rural targets. Intelligence gathering, local early-warning networks and rapid response remain as important as conventional combat operations.
