The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has announced the disbandment of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.

This is coming after about a 5day straight nationwide protest by angry Nigerian youths, which has now finally forced the IGP to bow to the demands of the coordinated #EndSARS movement.

The IGP in a live broadcast on Sunday said the operatives will be redeployed to other police formations and commands.

The announcement came after days of online and offline protests against the brutality and extra-judicial killings by SARS operatives nationwide.

“The Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force otherwise known as SARS is hereby dissolved in all the 36 states police command and the Federal Capital Territory”, Nigeria’s IGP said.
