Tribune reports that Lagos and California business, government and creative-industry leaders are preparing for a two-day investment summit scheduled for September 17 and 18 in Sacramento and San Francisco.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, California officials, AFRIMA representatives, investors and diaspora business leaders are expected to participate.
The gathering is intended to explore trade, investment, entrepreneurship and cross-border commercial partnerships between Lagos, California and the wider Nigerian-American business community.
Afretrade describes the event as “Building the California-Nigeria Business Bridge,” while The Guardian says it is designed to strengthen “trade, investment and enterprise ties” between the two jurisdictions.
Echotitbits take: Diaspora summits should be assessed by post-event transactions rather than attendance. Watch for signed investment mandates, SME financing, technology partnerships, trade commitments and concrete programmes linking Nigerian businesses to California markets.
