In a development covered by Vanguard, a high-level presidential delegation from Nigeria has traveled to Morocco to finalize an agreement on a National Agro-Productivity System. The partnership, which involves the Presidential Food Security Coordination Unit (PFSCU), OCP Africa, and Ground Truth Analytics, is scheduled for formal signing on July 17, 2026.
The initiative aims to deploy a shared geospatial intelligence platform, allowing the government to track crop locations, monitor yield projections, and identify food security threats in real-time. The project will kick off with a six-month pilot program across three selected states to calibrate datasets and build local capacity. This technology-driven transition is part of Nigeria’s ongoing emergency response to combat acute malnutrition and food scarcity.
Corroborating the international partnership, The Punch detailed the administrative scope, quoting Marion Moon, the Technical Assistant on Agriculture to the President, who remarked that “the future of agriculture depends not only on improved inputs, but equally on stronger intelligence.” Similarly, Daily Post ran a piece on the bilateral talks, stating that the project is “geared towards establishing geospatial crop monitoring and robust food security planning.”
