In an update published by PUNCH, the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission has begun engaging stakeholders ahead of a planned investment drive aimed at attracting additional Chinese capital into Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The initiative includes preparations for an oil and gas investment summit in China, with officials seeking investment that could expand production, develop gas resources and ultimately raise receipts flowing into the Federation Account.
The move comes as Nigeria seeks to leverage renewed international interest in secure energy supplies while addressing long-standing infrastructure and financing constraints in its petroleum industry.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that RMAFC had begun consultations to “boost investment” and Federation revenues, while The Guardian described the initiative as a “fresh investment drive” designed to reverse underinvestment in the sector.
Echotitbits take: Investment summits become meaningful only when they generate bankable projects. Watch for commitments tied to gas processing, pipelines, upstream production and local content rather than broad memoranda without financing timetables.
