According to The Nation, a Nigerian security and logistics enterprise, through its technical subsidiary, has been selected to execute a multi-billion-dollar customs modernization contract spanning 20 years under the African Continental Free Trade Area framework. The continental endorsement highlights growing international recognition of Nigerian digital governance models.
The agreement will oversee the rollout of advanced trade automation systems, digital cargo tracking, and automated border clearings across participating trade corridors. Federal trade officials described the selection as a major milestone for indigenous technological capacity.
The project aims to dramatically reduce cross-border transit delays, standardize tariff collection protocols, and accelerate intra-African commerce.
