According to Nigerian Tribune, Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi asked the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to release his academic records after reports of legal efforts to obtain certified copies of his certificates and admission file. Obi said he had no objection to release of the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy he said UNN awarded in 1984.
Punch’s latest bulletin independently summarised the same appeal. Daily Post’s Wednesday newspaper round-up quoted the X statement in which Obi said he wanted the university to make the records available rather than leave the matter to insinuation.
Independent confirmation beyond those Nigerian titles was limited to matching reprints of the candidate’s statement rather than a separate UNN communique at the time of writing.
Echotitbits take: Certificate politics is already part of the 2027 pre-campaign. The next fact to watch is whether UNN issues an official extract and whether any court process produces documents rather than more statements.
