Vanguard reports that members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities at Nnamdi Azikiwe University have withdrawn academic and administrative services over incomplete payment of their August salaries.
The union says the dispute is not the first occurrence and invoked its standing “no pay, no work” position.
The industrial action is expected to continue until affected lecturers receive their complete salary payments.
PUNCH quoted the branch as saying the university “has not paid complete salary” for August, while NigerianEye reported that members described the recurring problem as an “ugly and frustrating experience.”
Echotitbits take: Salary disruptions can quickly become broader academic-calendar problems. The immediate issue is payment, but repeated payroll discrepancies point to a systems problem that university administrators and federal authorities need to resolve permanently.
