According to ThisDay, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has opened its initial public offering, giving public investors a route into the ownership of Africa’s largest refinery.

The offer comprises 4.1 billion new ordinary shares priced at N525 each, implying a raise of about N2.15 trillion, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares and a scheduled close on October 13.

The transaction could deepen Nigeria’s capital market while giving investors direct exposure to a refinery whose earnings remain sensitive to fuel margins, crude supply, debt and global energy conditions.

Reuters independently corroborated the development, reporting that “launching an IPO to raise about 2.15 trillion naira”. Punch also confirmed the core development, noting that “offer opens September 14”.

Echotitbits take: The offer is strategically important, but investors should focus on the prospectus, debt, margins, valuation and governance rather than refinery scale alone.
