A YouTube broadcast by Symfoni TV reveals that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has officially set September 29, 2026, to deliver judgment on a critical legal suit seeking to compel the police to reopen the probe into the tragic passing of singer Mohbad. The legal action was brought forward by the human rights group, Break the Silence Foundation.
The foundation is actively challenging the depth and thoroughness of the initial law enforcement inquiry, arguing that several loose ends and critical witnesses were not properly evaluated before the case stalled. The late singer passed away under controversial circumstances in September 2023, and his remains are still in public custody awaiting final burial closure.
During the recent court session, an external application by an independent citizen seeking to join the ongoing suit as an interested party was formally thrown out by the presiding judge, who cited a lack of direct legal standing. None of the official respondents, including the Inspector-General of Police, were legally represented during the hearing.
