Reporting by Punch indicates that Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production rose to about 1.678 million barrels per day in August, slightly above July.
Crude output excluding condensate stood at about 1.500 million barrels per day, allowing Nigeria to meet its OPEC quota for a fourth consecutive month.
NUPRC linked the improvement partly to resolution of operational problems at the Erha field while most other producing assets remained relatively stable.
NUPRC independently corroborated the development, reporting that “met and exceeded its OPEC quota”. Channels Television also confirmed the core development, noting that “production hits 1.67mbpd in July”.
Echotitbits take: Four straight months at quota would strengthen revenue and FX prospects, but sustaining output will depend on asset reliability, security and investment.
