Leadership reports that the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry says Nigeria lacks enough public data to quantify the tariff benefits exporters have gained from AfCFTA preferences.
Although non-oil export receipts rose to $6.1 billion in 2025, LCCI argues that published trade data do not show how much commerce used AfCFTA certificates of origin rather than ECOWAS or ordinary tariff arrangements.
The chamber also points to high production costs, non-tariff barriers and weak manufactured exports as constraints on turning continental market access into broad industrial gains.
Independent confirmation was limited during this review. No sufficiently independent second report was located, so no corroborating quotation has been invented.
