Vanguard’s September 14 currency update places the naira around N1,326.84 to the dollar in the official foreign-exchange market.
The parallel market was quoted around N1,380 for buying and N1,390 for selling, leaving a visible premium over the official rate.
The size and persistence of that gap remain useful indicators of FX liquidity, confidence and the effectiveness of Nigeria’s market-based exchange-rate framework.
Independent confirmation was limited during this review. No sufficiently independent second report was located, so no corroborating quotation has been invented.
Echotitbits take: A durable narrowing of the official-parallel spread would be a stronger sign of FX normalisation than a single day’s exchange-rate move.
